The Nexus

Less than a days travel south of Overlook are the natural phenomenon known to the locals as the Vents. Small holes pock the ground where steam rises up and out of them from a natural source of geothermal energy. There is at least one hole that slopes into the ground and is large enough to allow creatures to enter through it. Beneath the ground are a maze of natural tunnels smelling of sulfur and at times full of steam as they worm their way through the underground. Deeper in the tunnels can be found a old dwarven complex that was hewn from the stones. Within this complex was a entrance guarded by constructs, a temple to Moradin, barracks, a mess hall, and finally at the end of the complex was the Nexus itself. It was at the entrance of the this complex that Eris was killed.

The Nexus is a large room with the ceiling reaching up 100 feat from the ground floor. Two large pipes run from the east wall into the center of the room where a large metal contraption sits. The room has a stone staircase that circles the outside of the room with steel grating which connects to the central portion of the Nexus at places. There are also 6 tunnels at different heights that enter into this room. These tunnels wind their way through the mountains and lead out to the other side where the Orcs came from. The adventuring party fought bravely here to flood the Nexus and not allow any more Orcs to sneak into the Elsir Vale. It was in this battle that Dalan Rah and Kalad gave their lives to defend the lands and buy time for the survivors to escape.
